And then I'll shake hands with Death

Bei Scheibenwelt-Autor Sir Terry Pratchett wurde in 2008 die "Motor Neuron Desease" diagnostiziert, eine Form von Alzheimer. Nun nimmt Pratchett an einer TV-Dokumentation von BBC Two über aktive Sterbehilfe teil, bei der er sich sogar als Testobjekt zur Verfügung stellen würde. Dazu wird er sich bei der schweizer Organisation "Dignitas" zum Thema informieren.

 "I believe everybody possessed of a debilitating and incurable disease should be allowed to pick the hour of their death."

Aktive Sterbehilfe ist in Grossbritannien zwar illegal, doch Sir Terry hat laut eigener Aussage keine Angst, dem Gevatter die Hand zu schütteln:

"When the time comes I'll sit on my lawn, brandy in hand and Thomas Tallis on my iPod. And then I'll shake hands with Death"

Terry Pratchett hatte zuvor eine Million Dollar an die Alzheimer-Stiftung "Trust" gespendet.
